  Head Coach John Delaney is entering his 21st year of coaching, and his 2nd at Washington-Lee High School. His 2010 squad recorded 9 wins, the most in school history. Before taking the coaching position with the Generals, Coach Delaney was the junior varsity coach at Chesapeake HS in Pasadena, MD. While at Chesapeake, the JV squad finished with a record of 13-1 and claimed the Anne Arundel County League Championship. Beginning his coaching career in 1990 as a junior in high school, Coach Delaney coached as an assistant with LaSalle Senior High School (Niagara Falls, NY) and as a junior varsity head coach at Niagara Falls High School in 1995. He has also coached with the Cheetah Volleyball Club 15s National (Buffalo, NY), Niagara Frontier Volleyball Club 12s National/18s Regional (Western New York) and the Bay Area Volleyball Academy (Annapolis, MD), working with the 13s Travel, and 14s Regional, and 16s Regional club teams. He was also the Head Coach of the American University Women's Club Volleyball Team (1999-2000), Bowie HS Junior Varsity (1999-2000, 2007), Niagara County Community College Head Coach (2006), Glen Burnie HS Junior Varsity (2008). He currently works with the Arlington Volleyball Club (AVC) as their Youth League Director. Coach Delaney is also the co-founder/director of MOJO Volleyball Academy. 

Coach Delaney is CAP I certifed by USA Volleyball, Golf Medal Squared Trained,  and a member of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). Originally from Niagara Falls, NY, Coach Delaney holds a MS in Physical Education and Health from Canisius College in Buffalo, NY and a BSE from Cortland College in Cortland, NY. In the summer, he will begin working on a Master's degree in Educational Leadership. He currently lives in Arlington, VA and is an elementary physical education teacher at Northview Elementary School in Bowie, MD.
